Miss Polly Rae
just emailed one of my boss’ connections at women in film!
This is so important!
I never know what to ask and end up looking like a fool cause I don’t have a question prepared.
Don’t be me.
"I was on the cover of Time magazine in June, and that same month, four trans women of color were murdered in the United States. So just because I got an Emmy nomination doesn’t mean the lives of trans people aren’t in peril every day.” - Laverne Cox
Anastasia Trivia: The musical number “Paris Holds the Key (To Your Heart)” features a cameo by Josephine Baker, an American-born French dancer, singer, and actress who was a world-famous entertainer. She refused to perform for segregated audiences in America and is known for contributions to the Civil Rights movement, assisting the French Resistance during World War 11, receiving the French military honor, the Croix de guerre and was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’honneur by General Charles de Gaulle. She rose to fame performing the Danse sauvage wearing a costume made of bananas and little else. In later shows in Paris, she was often accompanied on stage by her pet cheetah, Chiquita, who was adorned with a diamond collar. The cheetah frequently escaped into the orchestra pit, where it terrorized the musicians, adding another element of excitement to the show.
